(Source for all of the above--account by Nathaniel Ewing, grandson of the immigrant Nathaniel--Clan Ewing of Scotland, Elbert W. R. Ewing--p. 164)
Nathaniel Ewing married his cousin, Rachel Porter, daughter of Alexander's sister Margaret, in Coleraine, Ireland, several years before he took his family to the Colonies, although the exact date of their marriage has not been recorded in any of the Ewing genealogies I have seen so far. According to oral tradition, one of their daughters, Ann, was born on board ship during the voyage and was dubbed "the seagull" by others in the family.
Nathaniel settled in Cecil County, MD, and lived there along with his cousin Alexander and many others of the immigrant family until his death in 1748.
